Niue welcomes cyclists
The mix of sealed roads and dirt tracks, slow and courteous drivers, and very little traffic makes Niue a safe haven for riders.
The heat will be the biggest risk, so take water!
What better way to savour village life than to amble through on a bicycle?
In season, you can coast along beneath avenues of fragrant frangipani with the ocean peeking trough the forest, and perhaps stop to explore the reef, play with kids, or chat with women weaving in the shade.
Bikes can be hired from Alofi Rentals, although some motels and hotels have them available for guests.
Rally of the Rock
For the adventurous, the fit and the fun-loving, there's an annual race that circuits our island's ring road. It generally takes place in May, and everyone is welcome. For more details, please enquire from the Niue Tourism Office. |
